Bootcamp + Macbook Pro + External Display = yay.
Posted October 21st, 2008 by chrisI’ve been struggling a while with my macbook pro, running bootcamp with windows xp pro, to use the external display as the primary display.
After reading and futzing, I snagged the 178.24 drivers for xp32 bit, and then manually updated the driver [nv4_disp] with the .ini file from the extrated drivers above. A reboot later, and I still can’t assign the external monitor as the primary display. But within the nvidia control panel, I can use the external display as a single display, which is good enough for me.
So, yay.
Oh, for reference I’m using the 2.4ghz [t7700] macbook pro, with a 256mb nvidia 8600GT [though in windows it says its a 512mb 8600gt, weird huh?, 4 gb of memory, running 10.5, with bootcamp 2.1. external screen is a cinema 23′
